To pronounce as good as a native Chinese speaker should be your goal for your oral Chinese. It is also my goal to help you to achieve it.
Pinyin is a romanization system to symbolize Chinese pronunciation. It will help you to break down each single sound that contributes to the whole syllable of a character. You might need to rely a lot on pinyin in your early stage of study. Once you’ve got a hang of Chinese pronunciation, you’ll become more and more independent of pinyin.
That being said, you still need to know pinyin in order to type Chinese.
You’ll find lots of mp3 recordings that teach you how to pronounce on this blog. Open your mouth and practice with them. Once you repeat the same sound many many times, you’ll naturally become familiar with them soon.
