Complete Chinese subtitles for movie Eat.Drink.Man.Woman in both pdf and srt format

Posted by Grace Feng on June 3, 2012

The complete Chinese subtitles for Chinese movie 食男女 Eat.Drink.Man.Woman in pdf format is available to download from this post now. I’ve been asked by my reader about where to find the Chinese subtitles in files? After a bit of search online, I was finally able to download the complete Chinese subtitles for movie Eat.Drink.Man.Woman from the following web site:

http://www.9sub.com

However, the downloaded file is in plain text (srt format) with timestamp and line number for each line. I think it should be more comfortable to use it for study if I can strip off all the extra numbers and marks and make it into a pdf with better font and basic colors. The most good thing about pdf is you can zoom out the characters as big as you want without losing any display quality. You can also copy it over to any mobile phone or readers to study it anytime you want.

So here you go:

    Hi,

the “format” you refer is probably a .srt, that is a subtitle file you can open at the same time of the movie so that you can watch the movie and see the subtitles on the screen at the same time.

I use the free software VLC to watch movies and it allows to open subtitles files through advanced options.

Also, if the movie and the subtitles file have the same name, VLC will open it in automatic

      Hi Furio,

I think you’re right, though I believe the .srt files should be used together with the movie, I couldn’t open it directly in VLC. But I’ll play with it a little bit. For that matter, maybe .srt file would be useful to somebody too. I’ll update the post with the srt files too.

Thanks for educating me on this, I’ve learned a lot through this practice. Live and learn … :-)

If you’re referring to Chinese subtitles then your Chinese is actually not bad … (Watching movie with the help of reading Chinese subtitles should be on advanced level already in my opinion :-) )

I was curious and I downloaded the movie. However 9sub.com is not working and the .srt files you put show like that on my laptop:

    1
    00:00:41,613 –> 00:00:46,550

    ¶àл°Ö

    2
    00:00:50,622 –> 00:00:51,554

    °ÖµÄ¡¸º£ÌÄ°Ù»¨¡¹¡

dont know why… I then downloaded English subtitles (http://subscene.com/english/eat-drink-man-woman/subtitle-24786.aspx)

CD 1 works well while I didn’t check CD 2

      Furio,

I opened the srt files in firefox browser. and I have to choose the “Encoding” to be “Chinese simplified (GB2312)” to be able to view it in normal Chinese. How it works with VLC, I really have no clue yet. Guess you might have a better idea than me :-) What program do you use to open the srt files?

If you wanna study the subtile first than watch the movie, then the pdf file might help …

let me know if you need more help…

I have looked at the first dozen pages of the script in PDF format and it is very helpful. Thank you for obtaining this file.
