Xiaoji felt for that little girl in Anya’s story. As a matter of fact, the story reminded her of her own childhood.

Lock of the Heart 6

Deep in night, the wind was blowing more and more violently.

The girls were fast asleep in their dreams.

Only Xiaoji was still staring at the ceiling, thinking about Anya’s story.

How much the little girl’s story resembled her own!

Could it be possible that it was exactly the story of her own family? Xiaoji really wanted to ask Anya, but was dreadful of the true answer.

Not sure how long had passed, Xiaoji found herself stepping out of the hotel, passing by a small road, stopped in front of an old house.

She gently pushed the door open and stepped into the courtyard. Right there, a beam of light escaped from one door.

She stepped inside. It was a bedroom. A tall dress cabinet stood there with its door left ajar.

She pulled it open. Inside was a little girl in pink skirt, sound asleep with a blond doll in her arms.

Xiaoji didn’t want to wake her up. She closed the door lightly.

At that moment, a loud sound came in from outside.

Thanks for pointing this out for me Huey. Now it’s fixed. That part was accidently removed.

I’ve never met this typical structure before.
However, I found this other example that is very much akin to your sentence :

    Sàimǎ yìpǐ kuài sì yìpǐ.
Each racehorse is quicker than the last.

Grace, could you help me make it clear and tell me more about the “recipe” that applies to them please? Thanks a lot.

      Hi Batman,

That’s a very good question you asked. Actually, this type of sentence pattern is comparable to the following sentence pattern:

(The wind is blowing more and more violently.)

(Each racehorse is quicker than the last.)

Then you might ask, can I use this recipe whenever I want? Honestly I can’t answer right away, I need to test it out as well. let’s do it together:

(Sounds right!)

(Well, if the adjective is two-character, it sounds awkward then.)

To summarize, to use this pattern of sentence, the intention is to add more tension to the scene or to build the climax. Only use it for one-character ajective.

      Hope this helps,

      Grace

Thank you for your time and attention. Your explanation helps for sure but I still have to learn this new Chinese sentence pattern by heart : so different from English ! (that is also part of the charm of course)

I’ve reached 心锁 6 and I decided to review 心锁 1 at the same time.
