Traces of Sin  54

When Liu Mingtian left, Zhuang Liqun opened the envelope . It was actually from his Father. Obviously he didn’t know what happened to him. His father told him that he almost finished his service in the prison and would re-gain his freedom. He said they would re-unite soon. Zhuang Liqun couldn’t help but let tears welled up his eyes. He thought that Liu Mingtian didn’t tell his father about his trial because he didn’t want to sadden him before his release.

On the morning that Zhuang Guixiang was finally released, Liu Mingtian, Wen Suyun and Zhuang Guixiang’s brother were waiting quietly outside the prison. Zhuang Guixiang carried all that he had and stepped outside of the prison anxiously. He was in his 50’s though his hair was all gray. He saw Wen Suyun, his brother, and the police officer who had visited him. Warm feelings filled up his body instantly. He walked toward them, he glanced over their back, he couldn’t spot the son that he had missed so much!

He didn’t know that the three were even more anxious and nervous than himself. They’ve been preparing to tell him the truth, to face his desperation upon hearing the truth, and to help him get out of the darkness and start a new life.

Thanks Eji for your kind words! Yes, finally it’s finished, yeah! I didn’t expect it to be this long when I started, but I’m really happy that I managed to complete it. :-) honestly I’ve learned a lot through the writing myself and I hope whoever read it will learn something new as well.

      All the best,

      Grace

Hehe… thanks 白睿. It is longer than I planned. You know what, after writing this story, I do start to admire those writers who had spent their whole lifetime on writing one or a few epic novels. Writing when you see sparks in your mind is not hard. Keep writing from beginning to the end on a regular schedule is not an easy thing. :-)

      Hi Jess,

May I know what level of Chinese you’re at? How comfortable your reading experience was in terms of comprehension, vocabulary etc?

Yes it was sadly a true case that I wish it had never happened. There can’t be a happy story behind a death penalty. At least people can reflect on their value and behavior from other people’s lessons. That makes writing the story all worthwhile.

How long have you been studying Chinese?

Fantastic story and thank you for all of your effort it has helped me a lot. Do you know of any other websites that have stories at this level (or preferably at a more advanced level) with this type of interface (hovering over a character gives its definition)?

Once again thank you so much!!

Hi Alexi, thanks for your kind note. The only other similar site I know with hover over is this one:

The stories are shorter. You can check it out.

I read the story, it helped me a lot with my Chinese. The story itself was very interesting and had a good style.
Please keep up the good work.
My level is around HSK4. It was not hard to read it, but some chapters I needed to read it twice, nothing too hard. The popup functionality helps a lot, reading was smooth thanks to it.

      Hi Marcelo,

Your feedback is very helpful to evaluate the difficulty level of my writing. I’m sure you are very proud of your Chinese level already. I thought this story might be comfortable for HSK5/6. However. I understand that HSK is just reference, there are a lot more to look at before we evaluate a learner’s level.

Hope you keep progressing and I’ll do the same thing to help learners like you.

Thank you again for your kind comment, Marcelo!
